Motto Prayer:
"Faithful to the Word, One
with the People"
In any
discernment and renewal process we might need to keep in mind
that our spirituality and prayer life need to be always
challenged by the world and life that is there outside our walls
and frontiers.

Dear confreres and lay partners,
“Faithful to the Word, One with the
People” is the motto of the Society of the Divine Word for the
next six years. This motto is the guiding statement that
motivates us to implement the resolutions and recommendations of
the 18th General Chapter.
Our current General Administration
started something new by choosing a special prayer for this
sexennium, based on this motto.
With this profoundly Trinitarian prayer,
we try to follow our trinitarian, missionary, and incarnational
spirituality and be faithful to the spirit of our Founder Arnold
Janssen. He believed in the power of prayer and he composed many
prayers to the Holy Trinity.
Thus, we have now what are two flagship
prayers for this sexennium: the 18th General Chapter prayer as
well as this motto prayer. Both are linked to the focus of the
current General Administration.
Our Founder Arnold Janssen encourages us
when he says, “My sons, you should always be men of prayer. Try
to become more and more so, by practicing meditation and union
with God. You should not lose yourselves in exterior works.”
Our hope, therefore, is that by reciting
this motto prayer it may assist us in deepening our relationship
to the Divine Word. May we become one with the people we serve
and in eventually becoming transforming missionary disciples.
Bishop-elect Jose Luis Corral (ARS) of
the Diocese of Añatuya composed this motto prayer. The prayer,
in both English and Spanish, comes in Word form, a PDF form, and
a video clip. We request the respective superiors to disseminate
this prayer. Please feel free to translate into a language that
is appropriate for your province, region, or mission.

Oración sobre el lema:
"Fieles a la
Palabra, unidos al Pueblo"
En cualquier
proceso de discernimiento y renovación, debemos tener en cuenta
que nuestra vida de espiritualidad y oración siempre debe ser
desafiada por el mundo y la vida que están fuera de nuestros
muros y fronteras.

Queridos cohermanos y laicos asociados,
"Fieles a la Palabra, unidos al Pueblo"
es el lema de la Sociedad del Verbo Divino para los próximos
seis años. Este lema es la declaración orientadora que nos
motiva a implementar las resoluciones y recomendaciones del 18º
Capítulo General.
Nuestra actual Administración General
comenzó algo nuevo al elegir una oración especial para este
sexenio, basada en este lema.
Con esta oración profundamente
trinitaria, tratamos de seguir nuestra espiritualidad
trinitaria, misionera y encarnacional y ser fieles al espíritu
de nuestro Fundador Arnoldo Janssen. Él creía en el poder de la
oración y compuso muchas oraciones a la Santísima Trinidad.
Por lo tanto, ahora tenemos lo que son
dos oraciones emblemáticas para este sexenio: La oración del 18º
Capítulo General, así como esta oración con el lema. Ambos están
vinculadas al enfoque de la Administración General actual.
Nuestro Fundador Arnoldo Janssen nos
anima cuando dice: "Hijos míos, siempre deben ser hombres de
oración. Traten de serlo cada vez más, practicando la meditación
y la unión con Dios. No deben perderse en los trabajos
exteriores".
Nuestra esperanza, por lo tanto, es que
recitar esta oración pueda ayudarnos a profundizar nuestra
relación con el Verbo Divino. Que podamos llegar a estar unidos
a las personas a las que servimos y convertirnos en discípulos
misioneros transformadores.

FAITHFUL TO THE WORD,
ONE WITH THE PEOPLE
Merciful Father,
you offer us the gift of your Word, an
expression of your love reaching out to us.
We want to remain
open and faithful to the Word that flows from within you,
so
that it soaks into our hearts, is reflected in our lives
and
we turn ourselves to others in selfless service.
We listen to hear your Son, Word made flesh,
who
overcomes the darkness of despair and heals the wounds of
injustice.
Bound to the Word, with our whole mind and our
whole heart,
we let Him take the initiative in our life and
guide us in our path.
We want to be faithful disciples of the
Word, that questions and challenges us,
helps us to discern
and moves us to conversion.
We also want to hear the life of the people we serve
and
the events of our time to offer mercy and solidarity.
We look
primarily to the poor, oppressed and disconsolate,
putting
the last one first to restore dignity, to liberate and
reconcile,
and to promote the integrity of creation.
Driven by the Spirit of Love
we are sent to all peoples
and nations.
The Word announced and expressed in different
languages and cultures,
encourages us to promote
inculturation and to live interculturality.
We want to
discern and dialogue, witness and transform,
united to the
people and in collaboration with everyone.
Mother of the Divine Word,
model of attentive listening
and generous response,
Help us to communicate with joy and
strength
the Word that nourishes our fidelity and commitment
to be united with others in the mission.

FIELES A LA PALABRA,
UNIDOS AL PUEBLO
Padre Misericordioso,
nos ofreces el don de tu Palabra,
expresión de tu amor que nos alcanza.
Queremos permanecer
abiertos y fieles a la Palabra que fluye de tu interior,
para
que empape nuestros corazones, se refleje en nuestras vidas
y
nos volquemos a los demás en servicio desinteresado.
Nos ponemos en camino a la escucha de tu Hijo, Palabra hecha
carne,
que vence la oscuridad de la desesperación y sana las
heridas de las injusticias.
Adheridos al Verbo, con toda la
mente y con todo el corazón,
le permitimos la iniciativa en
nuestra vida y que nos oriente en el andar.
Queremos ser
fieles compañeros de la Palabra,
que nos interpela y desafía,
nos ayuda a discernir y mueve a la conversión.
